About RecastCalc
What this site is
RecastCalc is a focused set of mortgage utility calculators built to be more useful and more honest than what's currently available online. Every calculator shows competing strategies side-by-side — including the ones that don't generate revenue for us — so that the user can make a decision based on math, not on whichever option pays the highest referral fee.
Who built it
I'm Ivan Manov. I have 25+ years of operating experience across marketing, finance, and private-equity-backed services. My career includes McKinsey & Company, Merkle/Dentsu, Cancer Treatment Centers of America, and operating partner roles at Varsity Healthcare Partners and several PE-backed multi-site platforms in healthcare services.
I built RecastCalc because I needed the recast calculator myself, found that none of the existing ones showed the comparison I wanted, and realized that gap exists across most mortgage tools online. The economics of the project — independent operator, ad-supported, no lender ownership — make it possible to publish the comparisons that lender-owned tools structurally avoid.
What we are not
RecastCalc is not a lender, a mortgage broker, a financial advisor, or a licensed real estate professional. We do not originate loans, we do not give personalized financial advice, and we do not endorse any specific product. The calculators are estimates based on standard amortization formulas; consult a licensed mortgage professional or Certified Financial Planner before making decisions involving real money.
How we make money
Two sources, both clearly disclosed:
- Display advertising via Google AdSense. Ads are placed below calculator results, never above. We never sell ad placement, never accept "sponsored content," and never modify calculator math based on advertiser interests.
- Affiliate commissions from optional links to lender comparison platforms (LendingTree, Credible). These are clearly labeled "Sponsored" and use
rel="sponsored nofollow". Commissions do not change what we recommend or how the calculators behave.
We do not collect email addresses, do not gate calculators behind signups, and do not sell data. See our Privacy Policy.
Editorial integrity
Every calculator on this site is reviewed against published amortization standards and stress-tested against scenarios from CFPB consumer guides, Freddie Mac documentation, and lender disclosures. When we recommend a strategy, we show the math. When the math says the strategy that costs us money is the better choice for the user, we say so.
